Comic Confections: Branding Exercise
From concept to collateral, here’s my fictional restaurant branding for a comic book bakery.

What is Comic Confections?
Comic confections is a *fictional* bakery located in Richmond Va. They sell various desserts themed after stories and characters found in comic books and graphic novels. As customers eat, there is a library of comic books and graphic novels available to read in store, as they eat.
When trying to figure out what restaurant to make, I thought of a place that I would like to go to. With a huge sweet tooth and an appetite for puns and references, this was the perfect place for me. It’s easy to fall in love with a branding project if I make a place for me.
I made dozens of sketches for this brand, just trying to get the right feeling onto paper. There are a lot of aspects of comic books that some may not think of. Its not just “BAMS” and “POWS”, you know?
I designed a few variations of the logo, so that the colors are strong against any background. Funnily enough, making the main colors just CMYK was unintentional. I just like the combination a lot.
In in addition to this logo, I designed a menu and a to-go box. I had a lot of fun making assets for everything! I love drawing fun shapes, and visual gags, and tasty treats. My personal favorite is the chef hat/ mushroom cloud.
Collateral Pieces
-
Menu
In creating a restaurant, what they sell is an important factor in branding. So, due to the colorful experience I wanted for my imaginary customers, I made sure the names and descriptions of the menu items were colorful as well! See if you can find all the references I made.

Packaging
In addition to menu design, I created a to-go container for nerds on the go! Additionally, I wanted to use an alternate color pallet than the main mark that would be on the front of the building.
